Hospitality & Serve Team Training
There are so many different ways to get involved, and to help out at Lakewood! If you would like to learn how to join a volunteer or serve group, please join us for the Hospitality & Serve Team training on September 15 at 12:30 PM! Let’s get you plugged in so that we can continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this place. Or, if you are a current Greeter, Communion Server, Usher, or on any other kind of Hospitality Team, this is an important training meeting for all members of your team to attend!
Sager Brown Mission Meeting
Lakewood Methodist going to the annual Sager Brown Mission in Baldwin, Louisiana from November 3 – 8. This mission team will assemble various kits in the Depot, support local outreach ministries, and can also do home repairs in the Baldwin community. This is a great opportunity for those who have never gone on a mission trip, or those who do not want to do construction work. A Planning Meeting will be held on September 15 at 12:15 PM regarding this mission.
September’s Church Meeting
There will be an important Church Meeting on Monday, September 23 at 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary. We will be voting on exciting church topics at this gathering, so please come! This is an open meeting, so all are invited and welcome to attend.

Our Core Group met for a potluck recently and as we were gathered around talking with our new friends, we also were able to watch all nine of our children playing with the Legos together, in fellowship. This has been was an answer to our prayers!

Houston’s Hurricane Recovery Effort
Recent storms have caused significant damage to many homes in our area, and we need your help to restore and rebuild. We are looking for volunteers to assist with mucking and gutting homes affected by the storms. Your time and effort can make a real difference for families in need. If you are willing to volunteer, please get in touch with Jack Aulick to sign up. Together, we can bring hope and recovery to our community.

40-Day Prayer Guide For General Conference
For months now, we have been looking forward with great anticipation to our historic Convening General Conference, set for September 20-26 in San José, Costa Rica. The theme of the Conference is “So the World Will Know.” Delegates from provisional annual conferences from all over the world will be coming together to worship, pray, deliberate and legislate. Many significant decisions will be made that will profoundly shape the future of our church.
How crucial it is then for us to be “laying the tracks for the train” through persistent, believing prayer. For surely, above all else, we need the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to show up in our midst during the Convening General Conference to guide, direct and lead us forward!

Interested in Joining Our Praise Team?
Do you love worshiping at our Contemporary Service, and think your skills would fit well with our team? Anyone that would like to volunteer for our Contemporary Service Praise Team is invited to meet for a one-on-one session with our Contemporary Music Director, David Davis to evaluate your gifts, graces and skill set. Following practices with the team are held on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM, and once the member has become comfortable with the praise team and has grown in their skill set, dates will be given to join us for Sunday service on stage. If anyone is interested or has any questions regarding this process, please, feel free to reach out to David Davis below.
