My son, now 53, asked me over twenty-years ago not to talk to him about God, the Bible, attending church, or faith. In order to maintain a relationship with him, I told him I would try to honor his request. On Friday, he called me to tell me about how his house in Austin caught fire due to a malfunction in the fireplace. Due to the quick response of the firefighters, his house was saved. At the end of our conversation, I told him to let us know if there is anything we can do. This is when he asked if we could please remember him in our prayers; his voice broke and he was crying. We said a verbal prayer with him right then on the phone. What a God moment it was for us to have him ask for prayer; it was life-giving for us and for him!

When visitors and first-time guests come to Lakewood Methodist Church for the first time, we want them to feel wanted, welcomed, and loved. This may come as a surprise, but our first line of hospitality begins in our parking lot – as new families often find themselves uncertain about what to do once they arrive.
Our Hospitality & Membership Director, Amy Amodio, is looking for welcoming individuals to join our Parking Lot Greeter team! If God is calling you to get involved at Lakewood, let us plug you into this extremely important ministry that will help grow our church for years to come! You can reach out to Amy Amodio below.
