Weekly Life-Giving Moment

On Tuesday, a small group of us met at church in the morning to reset with the Holy Spirit, to sit quietly with the Lord and pray as led. We prayed out loud as led, but stayed primarily in the lingering of the Spirit. As each person was led to pray out loud, it was an echo of what was already on my heart to pray. It was like Jesus joined us as one part of Himself, but each one with a unique way to pray as His vessel. Joined in confession, petition, thankfulness we were blessed by our amazing God. Near the end I was led to sing as prayer, but did not obey (I confess). But the Lord met me in that disobedience the next day in a whole new way of praying. Anytime we can gather and pray together in Christ is a tremendous life-giving moment. Thank You Jesus, for a church who meets with You in prayer.

Important Announcements

July’s First Sunday Pairing

For the month of June, we are asking for cans of meat (like vienna sausages, tuna, spam, etc). The First Sunday Pairing is a monthly food drive to help restock the shelves of our community food pantry for those in need. Thank you for your continued support – this ministry changes lives!

If you don’t love to shop, please feel free to submit a monetary donation towards our Matthew 25:35 Food Pantry fund on the website’s Giving Page. Thanks for all you do!

Our Church Is Hiring

Lakewood has openings for two important positions: we are looking for a full-time Office Administrator and a full-time Preschool Teacher. We invite you to share with someone who you know would be perfect for the job – or to prayerfully consider applying yourself! You can read more about each and apply through the button below.

Our Food Pantry Needs You

Our ministry is growing, and we’re excited to continue serving our community — but we can’t do it alone! We are looking for volunteers to help unpack and bag Chick-fil-A chicken for distribution to aid our Matthew 25:35 Ministry. If you have a willing heart and a little bit of time to give, we’d love for you to join us. Your support makes a real difference! Sign up today by emailing Sandy Baumgarten below to be part of the blessing!

Welcome, Jake

We are happy to announce that Jake Averitt is officially our new Director of Traditional Music Ministries. Jake has served faithfully over the last several months on an interim basis and will now do so on a permanent basis. Congratulations and welcome, Jake!

Overcoming Temptation & Embracing God

In our journey through life, we often find ourselves at crossroads, facing challenges and temptations that test our faith and resolve. The Lord’s Prayer, particularly the line “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,” offers profound insight into how we can navigate these difficult moments with grace and divine guidance. At its core, this part of the prayer is an invitation to let God take the lead in our lives. It’s a humble acknowledgment that on our own, we’re prone to losing our way, much like inexperienced hikers venturing off the marked trail. How many times have we thought we knew better, only to find ourselves lost in the metaphorical woods of life, with storm clouds gathering overhead?

This brings to mind a powerful daily practice: “God, I give you permission to intervene today.” Imagine starting each morning with this simple yet profound invitation. It’s a conscious choice to hand over the rein…
