We have our grandchildren over every Thursday, and our four-year-old grandson loves to pray for us all before dinner. We all hold hands and he looks around at everyone, if you are not closing your eyes, he is sure to call you out on it! Once everyone closes their eyes, he will go around the table and thank Jesus for everyone there by name. He loves to pray! He prays for us every Thursday and everywhere he gets the chance.

Roof work will officially begin on April 21 and is expected to take 3–4 months. Some areas will be blocked off for safety, and clear signage will be in place to help navigate changes. The project will progress in phases, starting with the Faith Center, followed by the Sanctuary, Admin, and School areas. Thank you for your patience as we complete this important work! Here’s what to expect:
Hi! My name is Melanie Herrera, and I’m thrilled to be part of the kids’ ministry at Lakewood. A little about me: I love singing, traveling with my husband, and spending time with my sweet dog, Penny! I can’t wait to see how God moves through our church and in our kids’ lives!
We will continue with our First Sunday Pairing on Sunday, May 4! This is a collective and generous effort by our congregation. This month, we will be collecting canned spaghetti sauce and packets of pasta noodles. Thank you for all you do!

Athens Methodist Church, an independent Methodist church in Athens, Texas, maintains an endowment fund that has significantly supported the church since its establishment in 2002. Currently, the fund has a balance of $2.5 million whose earnings are used for special projects. Examples of the projects funded by the endowment include renovating the church steeple and roofing and installing a new audio-visual system in the gymnasium. The fund currently has $410,000 available for projects. Church members, Sunday school classes, and estates donated funds that built up the fund and created ongoing support for Athens First much above what was possible with the annual budget.
