Call to Worship
O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. I will bless You while I live!
Refer: Psalm 63:1-3
Thanksgiving
Thank You, Good Shepherd, that You defended us by giving Your own life. Thank You that You know us by name and call us to follow You.
Scripture Reading
A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
Refer: Psalm 23
Prayer of Intercession
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.
(first offered by St. Patrick, Breastplate Prayer of Protection)
Today, we join our hearts to pray and picture You, Jesus, standing next to us with a rod to ward off attacks and keep us safe from the enemy – from faithless, complaining thoughts, or lies that tempt and discourage or condemn. Lead us to green pastures beside Your still waters and in Your right paths. Comfort and fill us with Your Presence, goodness and mercy. We release stress, fear, and doubts to You and ask to hear and follow Your voice and to dwell in Your house forever. Thank you for our pastors who serve to shepherd us; bless them again on this day. We pray in Jesus’ name.
As The Spirit Leads
Please continue in prayer for any personal, church, community, nation, or world needs, concerns, or thanksgivings.
Lord’s Prayer
Let us close by praying the words that Jesus taught.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Refer: Matthew 6:9–13
Thank you for joining us in prayer. We hope you join us tomorrow.
The LORD bless you and keep you.
The LORD make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
—Numbers 6:24–26
