Mission in Motion
Highlighting The Matthew 25:35 Food Pantry & Clothing Closet
Matthew 25:35 is a verse in the Bible that says,
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.” These are Jesus' words, and he is emphasizing that acts of compassion towards those in need are, in effect, acts of compassion towards Him.
This mission is about Christ-like love.
Meeting needs while building relationships, restoring dignity through food and clothes, empowering neighbors in times of need, and strengthening our local community through generosity.
- Every year, our volunteers provide groceries to over 310 families and individuals in need in our local area.
- Every year, our Food Pantry partners with the local Scout Troop to receive donated food items to help restock our shelves, and this year, they provided over 2900 lbs of food.
- During Thanksgiving and Christmas, our Food Pantry helps provide needed food items for our Holiday Food Drives for around 40 Matzke families every year.
- On the first Sunday of each month, our generous congregation donates needed food items to help restock our Food Pantry. During the month of February, you all donated (blank – will provide later today).
- Our ongoing partnership with Chick-fil-A helps us receive regular donations of quality frozen food to give to our weekly food pantry clients, to make hot meals for unhoused guests on Wednesdays, and to make hot meals for our 249 & Hope team to take when they go out into the community twice a month.
- Every Wednesday, our Clothing Closet helps provide needed clothing to our unhoused neighbors, business-casual attire for those who need an outfit for a job interview or work, dresses to girls who cannot afford a homecoming or prom dress, or everyday clothing items to local families in need.
