Students connect to a broader community in peer groups, following Jesus together, engaging in the life of the greater church, and serving locally and abroad. Through these experiences, students can know and exemplify the transformational compassion of God and the uncommon peace that comes from walking in step with His Holy Spirit.
Student Ministry
Students guiding students into a lifestyle centered on Jesus
Raising students to be disciples and make disciples of Jesus Christ
At Lakewood Methodist, we value students finding life-giving identity as a child of God with the given purpose to be a disciple and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Sunday Morning Student Ministry
The Oasis • 6th–12th Grade
Sundays, 10:00–11:00AM, The Cafe
Students, join us on Sunday mornings for donuts, games, Bible study, and discussion groups for middle and high schoolers! This year, we are studying the overarching story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, looking at key stories in chronological order. In each story, we are asking the question: “Where do we see Jesus?” as we emphasize the presence of the Triune God across the entirety of the Bible.
Confirmation • 8th–12th Grade
Begins Sunday, August 17, 10:00–11:00AM
In Confirmation, students will learn more about Jesus and His ministry together in a fun and interactive classroom-style forum. By the end of these classes, students will know more about church doctrines, gain practical knowledge, and be empowered to take active steps in their own faith. This will include: receiving Baptism, joining the church, witnessing to God’s work in their lives, affirming their commitment to Christ and His Holy Church, and receiving the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands by their family on Confirmation Sunday.
Important Dates
- Sunday, August 17: Class Begins
- Friday, August 29–Monday, September 1: Confirmation Retreat (required)
- Sunday, February 8, 2026: Confirmation Sunday

Student Ministry Core Groups • 6th–12th Grade
Wednesdays, 7:15–8:00PM, The Loft
Student Core Groups invite students to follow Jesus together and connect them to a broader community. Groups of 6–10 students meet every Wednesday night as part of The Well and are grade- and gender-specific. They are also led by adult leaders who have gone through small group facilitation and Safe Sanctuary training. All Core Group discussion questions align with our Sunday morning services. This means if you are in an adult Core Group, you and your student will be studying the same thing!
We also have a Parent Core Group led by other Student Ministry parents that meets on Sunday mornings at 10:00AM. This group helps encourage spiritually rich conversations within the home that lead to whole family faith formation.

Adult Leaders
Our adult leaders help create a culture of service, compassion, kindness, and discipleship of Jesus Christ. There is an abundance of opportunities to lead, such as:
- Helping with A/V tech needs
- Facilitating small group discussion
- Organizing student games
- Helping with event décor
- Serving on a mission trip team
God has given each of us unique gifts, and we want you to get involved and build up our next generation of disciples. If you are interested in serving, email us and we will find the right role for you!
