Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants You have established a stronghold against Your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and stars, which You have set in place, what is mankind that You are mindful of them, human beings that You care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of Your hands; You put everything under their feet.

– Psalm 8:1-6

Jesus, thank You! In You the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in You we have been brought to fullness (Psalm 8:1-6). The fullness of God lives in us through the Holy Spirit – the power of love that brings new life out of death. We are Your body and each one of us is a unique part of it. Wake us up to the truth of this kind of love. You have given us Your name!

12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.

25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. 27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

– 1 Corinthians 12:12, 25-27

Gracious Father, loving unconditionally, whose heart overflows with forgiveness, receive our thanks and praise.

Gracious Son, giving sacrificially, whose body bled for our salvation, receive our thanks and praise.

Gracious Spirit, flowing eternally, whose breath revives our faith and soul, receive our thanks and praise.

Come, Holy Spirit, stir our hearts to see Jesus in the eyes of everyone we encounter today. May we surrender our notions and pride at the foot of the cross. It is there that we are really united – in a love that died for all people. Thank You for guiding Your people called Lakewood to provide Thanksgiving food for over 50 families. Thank You for the daily transformation of our church space: from messy piles of old possessions into new possibilities of hope and a future. We pray this not only over the donated items for the garage sale, but over volunteers and all those who enter our church premises. In Jesus’ name we pray for the glory of God.
